1. This Order may be cited as the Data Protection Act 2018 (Commencement) Order 2018.
2. The 24th day of May 2018 is appointed as the day on which
sections 1
and
9
of the
Data Protection Act 2018
shall come into operation.
3. The 25th day of May 2018 is appointed as the day on which the
Data Protection Act 2018
, other than—
(
a
) section 7(3) (insofar as it relates to the revocation of the Data Protection Act 1988 (Section 5(1)(
d
))(Specification) Regulations 1993 (
S.I. No. 95 of 1993
), insofar as those Regulations relate to the functions of the Central Bank of Ireland to which Regulation 3 of those Regulations applies),
(
b
) section 25,
(
c
) section 30, and
(
d
) section 176(
b
),
insofar as it is not already in operation, shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order appoints

• the 25th of May 2018 as the day on which all remaining provisions, other than sections 7(3) (insofar as it relates to the revocation of the Data Protection Act 1988 (Section 5(1)(
d
))(Specification) Regulations 1993 (
S.I. No. 95 of 1993
), insofar as those Regulations relate to the functions of the Central Bank of Ireland to which Regulation 3 of those Regulations applies), 25, 30, and 176(
b
), come into operation.
