S.I. No. 546/2017 - Social Welfare Act 2016 (Section 4) (Commencement) Order 2017

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act 2016 (Section 4) (Commencement) Order 2017.

2. The 1st day of December 2017 is appointed as the day on which

section 4

of the

Social Welfare Act 2016

(No. 15 of 2016) shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order provides for the commencement of

section 4

of the

Social Welfare Act 2016

with effect from 1 December 2017.

Section 4 provides for the extension of eligibility for Invalidity Pension to people who are self-employed (i.e. PRSI Class S contributors).
