S.I. No. 640/2016 - Garda Síochána Act 2005 (Section 52) Regulations 2016.

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Garda Síochána Act 2005 (Section 52) Regulations 2016.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of January 2017.

2. The Garda Síochána Act 2005 (Section 52) Regulations 2012 (

S.I. No. 128 of 2012

) are revoked.

3. The following ranks of the Garda Síochána are prescribed as the ranks to which the Authority may appoint members of the Police Service of Northern Ireland with the approval of the Government

(a) superintendent

(b) chief superintendent

(c) Assistant Garda Commissioner.

The Government hereby approve these Regulations.
