Statutory Text (3 Articles)
1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Renewable Energy) (Amendment) Regulations 2016.
(2) These Regulations come into operation on 1 January 2017.
2. The European Union (Renewable Energy) Regulations 2014 (
S.I. No. 483 of 2014
) are amended—
(
a
) by substituting for the definition of “Directive” the following
“ ‘Directive’ means Directive 2009/28/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009

, as amended by Article 2(5) of Directive (EU) 2015/1513 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 September 2015

;”,
(
b
) by substituting for paragraph 1 of Schedule 3 the following
“1. The greenhouse gas emission saving from the use of biofuels and bioliquids shall be
(
a
) in the case of installations starting operation after 5 October 2015, at least 60 per cent;
(
b
) in the case of installations that were in operation on or before 5 October 2015, at least 35 per cent until 31 December 2017 and at least 50 per cent from 1 January 2018.”, and
(
c
) in Regulation 17(2), by substituting “paragraph (1)” for “paragraph (1)(
a
)”.
