1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Protection of Consumers in respect of Timeshare, Long-term Holiday Product, Resale and Exchange Contracts) (Amendment) Regulations 2014.

2. Regulation 17 of the European Union (Protection of Consumers in respect of Timeshare, Long-term Holiday Product, Resale and Exchange Contracts) Regulations 2011 (No. 73 of 2011) is amended, in paragraph (3), by the substitution of “receives a request from the trader to make” for “makes”.

These Regulations amend Regulation 17(3) of the European Union (Protection of Consumers in respect of Timeshare, Long-term Holiday Product, Resale and Exchange Contracts) Regulations 2011(

) which give effect to European Parliament and Council Directive No. 2008/122/EC on the protection of consumers in respect of certain aspects of timeshare, long-term holiday product, resale and exchange contracts

The purpose of the amendment is to ensure the consumer’s right to terminate a long-term holiday product contract after receiving a request for the second instalment payment.
