1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Veterinary Practice Act 2005) (Amendment) Regulations 2014.

2. The

Veterinary Practice Act 2005

(No. 22 of 2005) is amended, in section 43(15) (inserted by

section 8

of the

Veterinary Practice (Amendment) Act 2012

(No. 25 of 2012)) by the substitution for the definition of “Mutual Recognition Directive”, of—

“ ‘Mutual Recognition Directive’ means Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 September 2005

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

These regulations implement Directive 2013/25/EU in so far as it relates to veterinary medicines, in the field of free movement of persons by reason of accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union. The effect is that the relevant Croatian qualification for practice as a veterinary practitioner or a veterinary nurse will now be recognised in Ireland under EU Mutual Recognition arrangements.

section 3

of the

European Communities Act 1972

(No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Council Directive 2013/25/EU of 13 May 2013

in so far as that Directive relates to veterinary medicine, hereby make the following Regulations—
