1. This Order may be cited as the Road Safety Authority (Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness) Act 2012 (Part 3) (Commencement) Order 2013.

2. The day fixed as the day on which Part 3 of the

Road Safety Authority (Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness) Act 2012

(No. 16 of 2012) comes into operation is 12 January 2013.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order commences

sections 49 to 56

of the

Road Safety Authority (Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness) Act 2012

. These sections provide for and support the transfer of certain driver licensing functions to the Road Safety Authority (RSA). The RSA will become a licensing authority within the meaning of Part III of the

Road Traffic Act 1961

with effect from 12 January 2013.
