1. These Regulations may be cited as the Sea-Fisheries (Quotas) (Deep-Sea Stocks) Regulations 2013.

2. (1) In these Regulations—

“Deep-Sea Quota Regulation” means Council Regulation (EU) No. 1262/2012 of 20 December 2012.

(2) A word or expression that is used in the Deep-Sea Quota Regulation and is also used in these Regulations, has, unless the context otherwise requires, the same meaning in these Regulations as it has in the Deep-Sea Quota Regulation.

3. The master of—

(

a

) an Irish sea-fishing boat wherever it may be, or

(

b

) a sea-fishing boat in the exclusive fishing limits of the State,

shall comply with the requirement imposed by the Deep-Sea Quota Regulation in respect of fishing vessels and masters of such vessels.

5. The Sea-Fisheries (Control of catches) (Deep-Sea Stocks) Regulations 2011(

S.I. No. 482 of 2011

) are revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

These Regulations provide for the provisions of Council Regulation (EU) No 1262/2012 of 20 December 2012 fixing for 2013 and 2014 the annual fishing opportunities available to Community fishing vessels for stocks of deep-sea species in Community waters and in certain non-Community waters where catch limitations are required, and the specific conditions under which such fishing opportunities may be used.
