1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Random Roadside Vehicle Inspection) (Amendment) Regulations 2011.

2. Regulation 2(1) of the European Communities (Random Roadside Vehicle Inspection) Regulations 2003 (

S.I. No. 227 of 2003

) is amended by substituting for the definition of “Directive” the following

“ ‘Directive’ means Directive 2000/30/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 June 2000

These Regulations transpose Directive 2010/47/EU relating to random roadside vehicle inspections through the amendment of the European Communities (Random Roadside Vehicle Inspection) Regulations 2003 (

S.I. No. 227 of 2003

). Directive 2010/47/EU, which amends Directive 2000/30/EC, specifies the use of EU vehicle category definitions according to Annex II to Directive 2007/46/EC, sets out new requirements for the inspection report form and provides updated testing procedures for certain test items at a roadside inspection.
