S.I. No. 94/2008 - European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives Other Than Colours and Sweeteners) (Amendment) Regulations 2008

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) (Amendment) Regulations 2008.

(2) The Principal Regulations, the Regulations of 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 and these Regulations may be cited together as the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) Regulations 1998 to 2008.

2. In these Regulations—

“Principal Regulations” means the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) Regulations 1998 (

S.I. No. 541 of 1998

);

“Regulations of 2000” means the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) (Amendment) Regulations 2000 (

S.I. No. 438 of 2000

);

“Regulations of 2001” means the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) (Amendment) Regulations 2001 (

S.I. No. 343 of 2001

);

“Regulations of 2002” means the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 (

S.I. No. 260 of 2002

);

“Regulations of 2003” means the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) (Amendment) Regulations 2003 (

S.I. No. 488 of 2003

);

“Regulations of 2004” means the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) (Amendment) Regulations 2004 (

S.I. No. 892 of 2004

), and

“Regulations of 2005” means the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) (Amendment) Regulations 2005 (

S.I. No. 174 of 2005

).

3. The Principal Regulations are amended in Regulation 2(1), by substituting for the definition of “the Commission Directive” the following definition

“‘the Commission Directive’ means Commission Directive 96/77/EC

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation).

These Regulations give effect to Commission Directive 2006/129/EC of 8 December 2006 amending and correcting Directive 96/77/EC laying down specific purity criteria on food additives other than colours and sweeteners for use in foodstuffs (as previously amended).

These Regulations amend the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) Regulations 1998 (

S.I. No. 541 of 1998

) in the manner specified in these Regulations.

These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) (Amendment) Regulations 2008.
