EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

These Regulations amend the European Communities (Passenger Car Entry into Service) Regulations 2003 (

S.I. No. 552 of 2003

) by substituting a new Schedule for Schedule 2. The 2003 Regulations outline the requirements to be satisfied in relation to motor vehicle type approval matters for the first registration of new passenger cars in Ireland. Schedule 2 of these Regulations specify the separate EU motor vehicle type-approval directives which are applicable to such vehicles. These Regulations amend Schedule 2 by the inclusion of a further directive — Directive 2007/35/EC.
