1. This Order may be cited as the Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority (Establishment Day) Order 2006.

2. The day appointed as the establishment day for the purposes of Chapter 5 of Part 2 of the

Sea-Fisheries and Maritime Jurisdiction Act 2006

(No. 8 of 2006) is 1 January 2007.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order, made by the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, appoints 1 January 2007 as the establishment day of the independent statutory SEA-FISHERIES PROTECTION AUTHORITY.

The Authority will enforce sea-fisheries law generally and food safety law relating to fish or fishery products.
