1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2002 (Section 16) (No. 8) (Commencement) Order, 2004.

Commencement

Section 16

of the

Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2002

, in so far as it relates to Item 3 of Part 4, Items 1, 2, 5, 6, 8 and 9 of Part 5 and Item 2 of Part 6 of the Schedule to the said Act comes into operation on—

(

a

) 3 August 2004, for the purposes of the District of Dublin within the meaning of the Births and Deaths Registration Acts, 1863 to 1996,

(

b

) 5 August 2004, for the purposes of the District of Dublin South City 4 within the meaning of the Births and Deaths Registration Acts, 1863 to 1996,

(

c

) 9 August 2004, for the purposes of the District of Naas within the meaning of the Births and Deaths Registration Acts, 1863 to 1996, and

(

d

) 11 August 2004, for the purposes of the District of Wicklow within the meaning of the Births and Deaths Registration Acts, 1863 to 1996.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This order provides for the commencement of the following items of the Schedule to the

Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2002

in so far as it relates to the Districts of

Item 3 of Part 4, Items 1, 2, 5, 6, 8 and 9 of Part 5 and Item 2 of Part 6.

These items provide for amendments to the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Acts and the Marriages (Ireland) Acts.

The commencement of these provisions is necessary to enable the electronic registration of births and deaths in the Civil Registration Offices in Dublin from the 3rd August, 2004, in Dublin South City 4 from the 5th August, 2004, in Naas from the 9th August, 2004, and in Wicklow from 11th August, 2004 and to allow for the capture of additional information at the time of registration.

The Minister for Social and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on her by

section 17

of the

Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2002

(No. 8 of 2002), hereby orders as follows
