1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Control of Exports of Dual-Use Items)(Amendment) Regulations 2002.

2. The European Communities (Control of Exports of Dual-Use Items) Regulations 2000 (

S.I. No. 317 of 2000

) are amended in Regulation 2(1) by the substitution for the definition of “Council Regulation” of the following definition

“ ‘Council Regulation’ means Council Regulation (EC) No. 1334/2000 of 22 June 2000

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation).

The effect of this Order is to amend the European Communities (Control of Exports of Dual-Use Items) Regulations, 2000 (

S.I. No. 317 of 2000

) which provides effective control of exports of dual-use items (items which may be used for both civil and military purposes) as provided for in Council Regulation (EC) No. 1334/2000 of 22 June, 2000 and to provide for penalties of the prohibition. This amendment arises as a consequence of several amendments made to Council Regulation (EC) No. 1334/2000.
