1. This Order may be cited as the

Telecommunications (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1996

(Commencement) Order, 1997.

2. In this Order, "the Act" means the

Telecommunications (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1996

(No. 34 of 1996).

3. The 7th day of February, 1997, is hereby appointed as the day on which section 14 (2) of the Act shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into operation on 7 February, 1997 certain provisions of the

Telecommunications (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1996

. The Order provides for the commencement of provisions of the Act concerning the repeal of certain provisions of the

Postal and Telecommunications Services Act, 1983

relating to the corporate governance of Bord Telecom Eireann.
