S.I. No. 30/1997 - Salmon (Restriction of Fishing at Sea) (Amendment) Order, 1997

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Salmon (Restriction of Fishing at Sea) (Amendment) Order, 1997.

(2) The Salmon (Restriction of Fishing at Sea) Order, 1984 (

S.I. No. 117 of 1984

) and this Order may be cited together as the Salmon (Restriction of Fishing at Sea) Orders, 1984 and 1997.

2. The Salmon (Restriction of Fishing at Sea) Order, 1984 is hereby amended by the substitution for Article 2 of the following Article—

"2. Fishing for salmon is hereby prohibited in that part of the exclusive fishery limits of the State that lies outside the line every point of which is at a distance of 6 nautical miles seaward from the nearest point of the baseline.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order reduces the sea area, in which salmon fishing is permitted, from twelve to six nautical miles from the baselines.
