EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This order brings into operation the provisions of the

Electoral Act, 1997

relating to the establishment of a Constituency Commission, the registration of specified categories of electors and postal voters, the expansion of the eligibility criteria for entry in the supplement to the register of electors and the introduction of supplements to the postal and special voters lists. It also commences sections 80, 81 and 82 which amend certain provisions of the

Electoral Act, 1992

and the Local Elections Regulations, 1995.

Electoral Act, 1997

(No. 25 of 1997), hereby orders as follows
