1. This Order may be cited as the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863 (Section 18) (Laois) Order, 1997.
2. The existing Registrar's District of Rathdowney shall be amalgamated with the existing Registrar's District of Portlaoise and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Portlaoise.
3. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1997.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.
The effect of this Order is to amalgamate certain Registrars' Districts in the County of Laois so as to reduce the number of such districts in that county.
