1. These Regulations may be cited as the Housing (New House Grants etc.) Regulations, 1990 (Amendment) Regulations, 1996.

2. The following paragraph is hereby substituted for paragraph (

b

) of sub-article (1) of article 6 of the Housing (New House Grants etc.) Regulations, 1990 (

)

"(

b

) unless the total floor area of the house is not less than 38 square metres and not more than 125 square metres, or in the case of a house, the foundations of which were completed before the 1st day of April, 1996,

(i) not less than 30 square metres and not more than 125 square metres, where the house is a separate self-contained flat or maisonette in a building of two or more storeys, or

(ii) not less than 35 square metres and not more than 125 square metres in any other case.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Housing (New House Grants etc.) Regulations, 1990 to provide for an increase to 38 sq. metres in the minimum floor area for houses and apartments qualifying for new house grants. The increased minimum floor area applies to houses and apartments where the foundations are completed on or after 1 April, 1996.
