SOCIAL WELFARE ACT, 1996 (SECTIONS 17, 18, 19 AND 25) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1996

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by

sections 21

of the

Social Welfare Act, 1996

(No. 7 of 1996), hereby orders as follows

This Order may be cited as the

Social Welfare Act, 1996

(Sections 17, 18, 19 and 25) (Commencement) Order, 1996.

shall come into operation on the 2nd day of January, 1997.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Sections 17 to 19 of the

Social Welfare Act, 1996

provide for the One-Parent Family Payment and section 25 of that Act amends the conditions for entitlement to Pre- Retirement Allowance in the case of a separated spouse.

This Order brings these provisions into effect from the 2nd day of January, 1997.
