2. The Local Elections (Amendment) Regulations, 1974, except as previously revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into operation certain provisions of the

Local Government Act, 1994

relating to local elections and local authority membership.

3. Sections 20 and 23 shall come into operation on the making of this Order.

4. Section 4(1) and the First Schedule shall come into operation to the extent specified in the First Schedule to this Order on the making of this Order.

5. Part II, other than sections 6 (3) (b) and 12, shall come into operation on the day of the making of an order under section 21 in respect of the first local elections to be held under section 20(1).

6. Section 4 (1) and the Second Schedule shall come into operation to the extent specified in the Second Schedule to this Order on the day of the making of an order under section 21 in respect of the first local elections to be held under section 20 (1).
