1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Introduction of Organisms Harmful to Plants or Plant Products) (Prohibition) (Amendment) Regulations, 1994.
(2) The European Communities (Introduction of Organisms Harmful to Plants or Plant Products (Prohibition) Regulations, 1980 to 1993, and these Regulations may be cited together as the European Communities (Introduction of Organisms Harmful to Plants or Plant Products) (Prohibition) Regulations, 1980 to 1994.
(3) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of March, 1994.
2. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the European Communities (Introduction of Organisms Harmful to Plants or Plant Products (Prohibition) Regulations, 1980) (

3. Regulation 2 of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the substitution in paragraph (1) in the definition of "the Directive" for "and Commission Directive No. 93/51/EEC of 24 June, 1993" (inserted by the European Communities (Introduction of Organisms Harmful to Plants or Plant Products) (Prohibition) (Amendment) Regulations, 1993 (

4. Regulation 10 (4) of the Principal Regulations is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.
These Regulations implement the following Commission Directives viz
(
a
) Commission Directive No. 93/106/EC, amending Directive 92/76/EEC with respect to protected zones recognised pursuant to Council Directive No. 77/93/EEC.
(
b
) Commission Directive No. 94/110/EC amending Annexes II, III, IV and V to Council Directive No. 77/93/EEC.
(
c
) Commission Directive No. 94/3/EC establishing a procedure for the notification of interception of a consignment or a harmful organism from third countries, which presents an imminent phytosanitary danger.
