1. This Order may be cited as the

Control of Dogs Act, 1986

(Commencement) (No. 2) Order, 1987.

2. In this Order—

"the Act" means the

Control of Dogs Act, 1986

.

3. On the 1st day of April, 1987—

(

a

) sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of the Act shall come into operation,

(

b

) subsection (5) of section 13 of the Act shall come into operation,

(

c

) subsection (1) and paragraphs (

a

) and (

c

) of subsection (2) of section 27 of the Act shall come into operation,

(

d

) subsection (2) of section 30 of the Act shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings the licensing provisions of the

Control of Dogs Act, 1986

, into operation on 1st April, 1987. The Order, in conjunction with the

Control of Dogs Act, 1986

(Commencement) Order, 1987 (

S.I. No. 16 of 1987

), brings all provisions of the Act into effect.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by subsection (2) of

section 37

of the

Control of Dogs Act, 1986

(No. 32 of 1986), hereby orders as follows:—
