EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these Regulations is to establish a Travellers' Protection Fund to be financed by contributions from tour operators as provided for in Part IV of the

Transport (Tour Operators and Travel Agents) Act, 1982

(No. 3 of 1982).

6. No contribution to the Fund shall be payable in respect of passengers under 2 years of age.

7. Contributions to the Fund shall be made to the Secretary, Department of Transport, Kildare Street, Dublin 2.

8. Contributions to the Fund shall be submitted not later than the 15th day of each month in respect of passengers who booked with the tour operator under an overseas travel contract during the preceding month and shall be accompanied by a statement in the form and containing the information specified in the Schedule to these Regulations.

9. Moneys due in respect of contributions to the Fund by a tour operator under these Regulations may be recovered as a simple contract debt by the Minister in a court of competent jurisdiction.
