EXPLANATORY NOTE.
The Regulations:—
(1) provide that, for the purpose of testing for pesticide residues, fruit and vegetables shall be sampled in accordance with Directive No. 79/700/EEC.
(2) amend the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Fruit and Vegetables) Regulations, 1979 in respect of the maximum permitted residue levels of certain pesticides.
2. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Fruit and Vegetables) Regulations, 1979.
3. The taking of samples pursuant to Regulation 6(1) of the Principal Regulations shall be carried out in accordance with the methods described in the Annex to Commission Directive No. 79/700/EEC of 24 July, 1979.

4. (1) Part I of the Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the substitution of
