S.I. No. 299/1980 - Undersized Sea-Fish (Lobsters) Order, 1980.

1. (1) This order may be cited as the Undersized Sea-fish (Lobsters) Order, 1980.

(2) This Order shall come into force on the 1st day of January, 1981.

2. Any lobster, the body-shell of which is less than 85 millimetres in length when measured from the rear of either eye-socket to the rear of the body-shell (along a line parallel to the centreline of the body) shall, for the purposes of Chapter III of Part XIII of the

Fisheries (Consolidation) Act, 1959

(No. 14 of 1959), be undersized.

3. The Undersized Sea-fish (Lobsters) Order, 1963 (

S.I. No. 52 of 1963

), is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order increases the minimum legal size for lobsters from 83 mm as specified in the Undersized Sea-fish (Lobsters) Order, 1963 (

) to 85 mm with effect from 1st January, 1981.
