S.I. No. 291/1978 - Road Traffic (Construction, Equipment and Use of Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations, 1978.

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Construction, Equipment and Use of Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations, 1978.

(2) These Regulations and the Road Traffic (Construction, Equipment and Use of Vehicles) Regulations, 1963 to 1974 shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Road Traffic (Construction, Equipment and Use of Vehicles) Regulations, 1963 to 1978.

2. For sub-paragraph (iii) of paragraph (

a

) of sub-article (2) of article 51 of the Road Traffic (Construction, Equipment and Use of Vehicles) Regulations, 1963 (

S.I. No. 190 of 1963

) there shall be substituted the following sub-paragraph:—

"(iii) seats which are properly upholstered with leather, good quality artificial leather or other durable material, and which are maintained in a clean and hygienic condition".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide for the use of a wider range of materials in the upholstering of the seats of small public service vehicles and also require that the seats be hygienically maintained.
