1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Disability and Unemployment Benefit) (Amendment) Regulations, 1978.

(2) These Regulations and the Social Welfare (Disability and Unemployment Benefit) Regulations 1953 to 1977 may be cited together as the Social Welfare (Disability and Unemployment Benefit) Regulations, 1953 to 1978.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 3rd day of April 1978.

3. The following Schedule shall be substituted for the First Schedule to the Social Welfare (Disability, Unemployment and Marriage Benefit) Regulations, 1953 (

S.I. No. 7 of 1953

) as amended by article 3 of the Social Welfare (Disability and Unemployment Benefit) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1977 (

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

Consequent on the increase in the maximum rates of disability and unemployment benefit effected by the

Social Welfare Act, 1978

these Regulations amend the Social Welfare (Disability, Unemployment and Marriage Benefit) Regulations, 1953 (

S.I. No. 7 of 1953

) for the purpose of increasing the reduced rates of benefit payable where the contribution condition in respect of the governing contribution year is only partially satisfied.
