1. This Order may be cited as the

Finance Act, 1976

(Part V) (Commencement Order), 1976.

Sections 64

and

of the

Finance Act, 1976

, shall come into operation on the 18th day of August, 1976.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Order brings into operation on 18th August, 1976, certain provisions of Part V of the

Finance Act, 1976

, relating to excise duties on mechanically propelled vehicles (" road tax "), including the obligation to display a current tax disc on vehicles used in a public place and provision for a maximum penalty of £100 in respect of offences.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by subsection (3) of

section 64

of the

Finance Act, 1976

(No. 16 of 1976) hereby orders as follows:—
