1. This Order may be cited as the Garda Siochana Pay Order, 1967.
2. The
Interpretation Act, 1937
(No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.
3. This Order shall—
(
a
) as respects the rates and scales set out in the First Schedule hereto be deemed to have come into operation on the 30th day of June, 1965, and
(
b
) as respects the rates and scales set out in the Second Schedule hereto, be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1966.
4. The Garda Siochana Pay (No. 2) Order, 1958 (
S.I. No. 156 of 1958
), shall have effect as if the rates and scales contained in the Schedules to this Order were substituted for the relevant rates and scales (inserted by the Garda Siochana Pay Order, 1964 (
S.I. No. 54 of 1964
), the Garda Siochana Pay Order, 1966 (
S.I. No. 88 of 1966
), the Garda Siochana Pay (No. 3) Order, 1966 (
S.I. No. 186 of 1966
), and the Garda Siochana Pay (No. 4) Order, 1966 (
S.I. No. 239 of 1966
)), contained in Article 4.

Provided that the rate of pay applicable to men who have not reached the age of twenty-one years shall be the appropriate rate set out in this schedule less 5/-per week.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order prescribes scales of pay for the various ranks of the Garda Síochána, including revised scales for Sergeants, Station Sergeants, Inspectors and the six senior Officers of the Force.

I, BRIAN LENIHAN, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by
section 12
of the
Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925
(No. 7 of 1925), and
section 1
of the
Garda Siochana Act, 1958
(No. 14 of 1958), with the sanction of the Minister for Finance and after due compliance with subsection (2) of the said section 12, hereby order as follows
