1. This Order may be cited as the Garda Síochána Pay Order, 1963.
2. The
Interpretation Act, 1937
(No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.
3. This Order shall—
(
a
) as respects rates and scales for Chief Superintendents and Superintendents, be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1963,
(
b
) as respects rates and scales for Inspectors, Station Sergeants and Sergeants, be deemed to have come into operation on the 15th day of January, 1963, and
(
c
) as respects rates and scales for Guards, be deemed to have come into operation on the 9th day of January, 1963.
4. The Garda Síochána Pay (No. 2) Order, 1958 (
S.I. No. 156 of 1958
), shall have effect as if the rates and scales contained in the Schedule to this Order were substituted for the rates and scales (inserted by the Garda Síochána Pay Order, 1961 (
S.I. No. 257 of 1961
), and the Garda Síochána Pay (No. 2) Order, 1962 (
S.I. No. 103 of 1962
)) contained in Article 4.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.
This Order provides for new pay rates for members of the Garda Síochána up to and including the rank of Chief Superintendent.
I, CHARLES J. HAUGHEY, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by
section 12
of the
Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925
(No. 7 of 1925), and
section 1
of the
Garda Síochána Act, 1958
(No. 14 of 1958), with the sanction of the Minister for Finance and after due compliance with subsection (2) of the said section 12, hereby order as follows
