S.I. No. 18/1948 - Woven Tissues of Wool Or Worsted (Control of Importation) Order, 1948.

1. This Order may be cited as the Woven Tissues of Wool or Worsted (Control of Importation) Order, 1948.

2. This Order applies to articles which, if the Control of Imports (Quota No. 13) Order, 1935 (

S. R. & O. No. 59 of 1935

), as amended, were in force, would be prohibited from being imported by Article 4 of that Order.

3. (1) A person shall not import an article to which this Order applies unless—

(

a

) he is the holder of a licence under this Order,

(

b

) the article is imported under and in accordance with the licence,

(

c

) the licence is produced at the time of importation to the proper officer of Customs and Excise.

(2) This Article shall come into operation on the 22nd day of January, 1948.

4. The Minister for Industry and Commerce may, at his discretion, issue licences for the purposes of this Order.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O. No. 224 of 1939), as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942) (which orders are continued in force by the

Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946

(No. 22 of 1946) ) and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :—
