The Constitutional Court granted the Hospital District of Abrantes' appeal against a lower court ruling declaring specific liability statutes unconstitutional. The hospital argued that Articles 2 and 4 of the 1992 Decree-Law imposed an excessive financial burden, while insurers and the state contended the laws were necessary for patient protection. The court rejected the unconstitutionality claim, affirming that the statutory framework remained valid and enforceable.
