The applicant participates in economic life when his or her income, assets, or third-party benefits to which he or she is entitled allow him or her, at the time of submission of the application and at naturalization, to cover living expenses and fulfill maintenance obligations.

He or she acquires education when, at the time of submission of the application or at naturalization, he or she is pursuing education or further training.

Anyone receiving social assistance in the three years preceding the submission of the application or during the naturalization process does not meet the requirements for participation in economic life or acquisition of education, unless the social assistance received is fully reimbursed.

Die Bewerberin oder der Bewerber nimmt am Wirtschaftsleben teil, wenn sie oder er die Lebenshaltungskosten und Unterhaltsverpflichtungen im Zeitpunkt der Gesuchstellung und der Einbürgerung deckt durch Einkommen, Vermögen oder Leistungen Dritter, auf die ein Rechtsanspruch besteht.

Die Bewerberin oder der Bewerber nimmt am Erwerb von Bildung teil, wenn sie oder er im Zeitpunkt der Gesuchstellung oder der Einbürgerung in Aus- oder Weiterbildung ist.

Wer in den drei Jahren unmittelbar vor der Gesuchstellung oder während des Einbürgerungsverfahrens Sozialhilfe bezieht, erfüllt nicht das Erfordernis der Teilnahme am Wirtschaftsleben oder des Erwerbs von Bildung, ausser die bezogene Sozialhilfe wird vollständig zurückerstattet.
