The High Court of Cassation and Justice declared the appeal filed by the appellants null and void, thereby upholding the lower court's decision to dismiss their claims as inadmissible. The dispute involved a civil lawsuit initiated by the appellants against unspecified defendants, which was rejected at the first instance due to an exception of inadmissibility raised by the court of its own motion; the appellants then challenged this ruling. Relying on Article 302 of the Code of Civil Procedure, which mandates that an appeal must be filed with the court whose decision is being challenged under pain of nullity, the Supreme Court held that the appeal was procedurally defective because it was submitted directly to the High Court instead of the Zalău District Court, rendering the appeal null and the underlying judgment irrevocable.
