The High Court of Cassation and Justice (Civil Section I) granted the applicant’s motion to change venue (strămutare), ordering that Case No. 5301/104/2013 pending before the Olt Tribunal be transferred to the Giurgiu Tribunal for continued proceedings, while preserving all procedural acts performed before the transfer; the decision was made final with no appeal. The dispute concerned a request to relocate a civil case filed by the applicant against the respondent, argued on grounds of suspicion of partiality or other statutory reasons under Romanian procedural law governing case reassignment between courts. The court, after examining the motion (with the prosecutor opposing it as unfounded) and noting the case was scheduled for hearing on 10 February 2014, admitted the motion and transferred jurisdiction, exercising its discretionary power under the relevant provisions on changing venue to ensure impartial administration of justice.
