The Tribunal da Relação de Lisboa confirmed the lower court's judgment regarding the enforceability of a bill of exchange. The court held that principles of literality and autonomy only restrict parties once the title circulates to bona fide third parties, allowing them to invoke the underlying debt in direct relationships. Consequently, the court ruled that the parties' explicit use of 'discharge' on the document confirmed the bill's nature, permitting enforcement based on the underlying cause.
