The Supreme Court of Justice ordered the retrial of the criminal proceedings due to a procedural defect in sentencing. The prosecution argued for a unitary sentence based on the defendant's personality, but the lower court failed to provide specific factual details regarding that personality. The court ruled that merely stating the personality was considered without concrete evidence constituted an insufficient finding of fact, violating the requirement for a secure application of the law.
