The Court of Cassation quashed a lower court decision because it incorrectly held that the conversion of a sharecropping lease into a farm lease, in accordance with the relevant rural code article, resulted in the rupture and replacement of the original contract with a new nine-year lease. The Court reasoned that the applicable article stipulates that such a conversion only affects the mode of exploitation and its direct consequences, leaving the duration of the original lease unaffected.
