The Supreme Court of Finland ordered the execution of a combined prison term for a defendant who committed new crimes during the probation period of a suspended sentence. Lower courts had sentenced the defendant to a combined term but failed to execute the suspended portion separately from the new crimes. The court ruled that under the relevant statute, committing new offenses during probation mandates the immediate execution of the suspended sentence alongside the new term.
