The Supreme Court of Finland allowed the deduction of unemployment benefits from damages awarded for unjustified termination. The employer argued that the employee had received state support, while the employee claimed the benefits should be offset against the compensation. The court ruled that since the termination was without cause, the employee was entitled to both unemployment benefits and damages, but the benefits must be deducted from the final award to prevent double recovery.
