The Supreme Court of Finland allowed the deduction of unemployment benefits from damages awarded for wrongful termination. The employer argued that benefits should be offset against the compensation due to the employee's loss of income. The court ruled that since the benefits are a direct consequence of the employer's wrongful act, they must be deducted from the damages to prevent unjust enrichment.
