The Supreme Court ruled that unemployment benefits received by an employee must be deducted from damages awarded for wrongful termination without cause. The court held that the statutory right to unemployment benefits is a form of compensation for lost wages, which must be offset against the employer's liability for damages. Consequently, the employer is only liable for the net loss suffered by the employee after receiving these benefits.
