X oli 15.10.1997 ottanut yhteyttä työvoimatoimistoon ja ilmoittanut työsuhteensa päättymisestä ja lähtevänsä ulkomaanmatkalle seuraavana päivänä. X oli ilmoittanut palaavansa matkalta 24.10.1997 ja hän oli jättänyt työvoimatoimistoon hotellin osoitetiedot ja puhelinnumeron. Matka oli suuntautunut Kanarian saarille ja X oli aloittanut matkanteon torstaina 16.10.1997 kello 10.30 Jyväskylän linja-autoasemalta ja palannut sinne perjantaina 24.10.1997 kello 13.00.
