Child support and family allowance counts as income for grandparent's means-tested benefit claim.
Legislator summary
AI generatedThe Administrative Court dismissed the applicant's claim to receive means-tested support, ruling that child support and family allowance constitute the child's regular income rather than the grandparent's. Although these funds were paid to the grandparent, the court determined they covered the child's basic living and housing expenses. Consequently, only income exceeding the child's actual needs could be considered when assessing the grandparent's eligibility for support.

Oikeuskysymyksenä oli alaikäisen lapsen tulojen huomioon
ottaminen toimeentulotuesta päätettäessä. Isoäiti haki toimentulotukea itselleen ja hänen luonaan asuneelle
vuonna 1990 syntyneelle lapsenlapselleen.
