Legislator summary

The administrative court dismissed the county board's appeal regarding a small municipality's decision to maintain seven voting districts. The board argued that splitting the municipality into multiple districts was necessary, but the court found no special reasons to justify such a division for a community under 3,000 residents. Consequently, the court ruled the decision violated the law and ordered it to be reconsidered by the municipal council.

Oikeuskysymyksenä asiassa oli, voitiinko alle 3000 asukkaan

kunta jakaa useampaan äänestysalueeseen.

Kunnanvaltuusto oli tammikuussa 1987 päättänyt, että kunta

jaetaan entiseen tapaan seitsemään äänestysalueeseen.

Kunnan jäsenten valituksesta lääninoikeus katsoi, ettei asiassa

ollut ilmennyt liikenteellisiä tai muita erityisiä syitä

kyseisen alle 3000 asukkaan kunnan jakamiseksi useampaan

äänestysalueeseen. Kunnanvaltuuston päätös oli siten vastoin

lakia ja asia palautettiin kunnanvaltuustolle uudelleen käsi-

teltäväksi.
