Withdrawal of Criminal Appeal Due to Procedural Economy and Cost Allocation The Federal Supreme Court case concerns an appellant who filed an appeal in criminal matters against a decision of the Cantonal High Court, raising issues such as improper service. Subsequently, the appellant notified the Federal Court of the withdrawal of her appeal, citing reasons of procedural economy and financial constraints, effectively rendering the proceedings moot. Consequently, the court dismissed the case and assigned the procedural costs of CHF 300 to the appellant, ruling that the party who withdraws an appeal, and thereby causes the cessation of the proceedings, must bear the incurred costs.
