The case involved a formal appeal regarding a criminal matter where the appellant contested a decision from the Court of Justice of a Swiss canton. The challenge was based on the assertion of procedural issues, specifically alleging that the appeal was filed after the statutory deadline stipulated by law. The Federal Tribunal noted that the appellant had been notified of the lower court's decision in June 2013, yet the appeal was submitted on May 15, 2014, which rendered it inadmissible due to late submission. The Tribunal ruled that it was not necessary to impose court fees in this instance.
