Vu :
le recours - rédigé en anglais - interjeté le 26 septembre 2024 par A.________ à l'encontre de l'arrêt rendu le 23 août 2024 par la Cour d'appel civile du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud;
l'ordonnance du 30 septembre 2024 invitant le recourant à traduire son mémoire dans l'une des langues nationales ( art. 42 al. 1 LTF ) jusqu'au 14 octobre 2024, sous peine de ne pas être pris en considération;
Considérant :
que le recourant ne s'est pas conformé à l'ordonnance précitée dans le délai imparti à cet effet, mais s'est borné à transmettre un nouvel acte rédigé en anglais;
que, partant, il n'y a pas lieu d'entrer en matière sur le présent recours ( art. 42 al. 5 LTF );
que, vu les circonstances, il convient de renoncer à percevoir des frais judiciaires (art. 66 al. 1, 2ème phrase, LTF);
Par ces motifs, le Président prononce :
1. Il n'est pas entré en matière sur le recours.
2. Il n'est pas perçu de frais judiciaires.
3. Le présent arrêt est communiqué aux parties, à Me Virginie Rodigari (pour C.________) et à la Cour d'appel civile du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud.
