In this case, the appellants, consisting of two individuals and their son, filed a civil appeal against a ruling made by the Chamber of Guardianship of the Cantonal Court concerning the approval of a final account related to a guardianship matter. The initial decision from the Justice of the Peace was confirmed on March 31, 2014, prompting the appellants to submit their appeal on June 30, 2014. However, the Federal Tribunal deemed the appeal to be late as it was not filed within the required 30-day deadline after the notification of the previous ruling, leading to the rejection of both the appeal and a request for legal aid. Additionally, the court decided that the judicial costs would be jointly borne by the appellants.

Objet

curatelle,

recours contre l'arrêt de la Chambre des curatelles du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud du 31 mars 2014.

considérant :

que, par arrêt du 31 mars 2014, la Chambre des curatelles du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud a rejeté, dans la mesure de sa recevabilité, un recours interjeté par B.________ et A.X.________, ainsi que par leur fils C.X.________, contre une décision du 17 février 2014 de la Justice de paix du district de la Riviera-Pays-d'Enhaut relative à l'approbation du compte final de la curatelle de A.X.________ et a confirmé cette décision;

que, par acte remis au Tribunal fédéral le 30 juin 2014, B.________, A.________ et C.X.________ forment un recours en matière civile au Tribunal fédéral contre cet arrêt et sollicitent de surcroît l'octroi de l'assistance judiciaire;

que, selon l'information de la Poste, l'arrêt du Tribunal cantonal a été notifié aux recourants le 28 mai 2014;

que le délai de recours de 30 jours ( art. 100 al. 1 LTF ) a donc commencé à courir le jeudi 29 mai 2014 ( art. 44 al. 1 LTF ) et a pris fin le vendredi 27 juin 2014;

que le recours remis par porteur au Tribunal fédéral le 30 juin 2014 est par conséquent tardif et doit être déclaré irrecevable selon la procédure simplifiée prévue à l' art. 108 al. 1 let. a LTF ;

que l'assistance judiciaire ne peut être accordée vu l'absence de chances de succès du recours tardif ( art. 64 al. 1 LTF );

que les frais judiciaires doivent être mis à la charge des recourants solidairement entre eux ( art. 66 al. 1 et 5 LTF );

par ces motifs, le Président prononce :

1. Le recours est irrecevable.

2. Les requêtes d'assistance judiciaire sont rejetées.
